Hi Dana,

Thank you for inquiring about our coupon policy.

We accept original coupons for products we sell, providing the coupon is intact and legible, proper size of item is purchased, coupon has not expired, has a coupon offer code or UPC, and it contains a Canadian redemption address. We accept one coupon per item. Coupon amount may not exceed purchase price of item.

Internet coupons may be accepted  if they meet the above and the following criteria:
• There must be a picture of the product on the coupon.
• The printed coupon must not be blurry.
• The face value of the coupon cannot exceed $5.00 off.
• We do not accept free product internet coupons.
• The expiry date should not exceed 6 weeks from the day it was printed.  All internet coupons will have an expiry date visible.
• The coupon must have a Canadian redemption address.
• The coupon must have only one UPC (i.e. bar code).
• The coupon must say “INTERNET COUPON” to be legitimate.

In regards to BOGO items, a coupon may be accepted for the item purchased but not for the free item.

Example #1 – If you buy 2 Windex some stores will let you use both coupons and not consider it stacking ~ the store has the discretion to do so if they wish ~ Rational = 2 coupons 2 products

Example #2- Most popular. If you were buying 3 Ziploc products you could use all 3, You save $1 on the first, Save $1 on the second and you receive the 3rd one free. This is similiar to if you had a BOGO & a $1.00 off coupon. MOST stores ALLOW THIS & do not consider it stacking. **Personally the only place I have ever had an issue doing this is Walmart here.

In regards to BOGO items, a coupon may be accepted for the item purchased but not for the free item.

From Sobey’s Policy. They would allow you to use the $1 off the first item and the bogo coupon would be for the free item; they would not allow you to use an extra $1 off coupon due to the fact that your second item was already free.

• We do not accept free product internet coupons.

A great example of this would be the Free Product Coupon for Silver Hills bread that was recently out. Sobeys in Atlantic Canada could refuse this coupon based on their policies.

BOGO printed coupons would be accepted as you need to purchase an item in order to get the second one for free.

If the value of the coupon is $4.00 and is printed and the item is on sale for $2; they WILL take the coupon; it’s due to their pricing that made the product free however they must write $2 on the coupon and will only give you a value of that much on the product; no overage!

My experience with the Sobeys in my area is if you have 50 items you can use 50 coupons. 1 coupon per item!

**I email Sobeys every 6 months to check on the policies; They have not made any changes in the last few years. Sobeys Atlantic area is New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.
